I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) providing therapy in-person in Oakland, CA and virtually in California and Vermont.
I am currently accepting new work with individual adults as well as couples and families.
Certificate of Narrative Therapy: Evanston Family Therapy Center (2025)
Certificate of Narrative Therapy: Narrative Therapy Initiative (2024)
MSW: Smith College School for Social Work (2021)
My most important education has been through my work in the field since 2019. I have learned from the young people, adults, and older adults I have worked alongside, and continue to work alongside, in community mental health settings, outpatient medical settings, and criminal justice system.
My work is largely informed by the practices of narrative therapy. This worldview has invited me into many beliefs that have come to be important to me both personally and professionally:
The belief that people are never problems, problems are problems.
The belief that there are many stories that we could tell about the world and our experiences. While there is never a single story or a right story, the stories we choose to tell matter.
The belief that some stories, often those created by systems of oppression, cause real harm.
The belief that the story told about who we are is always changing, depending on our relationships, contexts, and surroundings.
I think of therapy, and life, as a project.
Projects are always in a state of becoming.
Becoming is a constant action.
Action gives us choice.
There are many unjust ways we may have choice taken from us, and yet I have been taught that "people always resist." We can identify what is not okay with us when we make meaning of the resistance in the actions behind us. We can recognize what matters most when we name our intentions for the choices ahead of us.
I think we will be the best fit if you are interested in creating a partnership to take on this meaning making project together.
Curiosity: I hope to ask questions to better understand what is particularly challenging to you and how it may be getting in the way of where you want to be going.
Accountability: I hope to be accountable to my influence in our work together. I hope our work supports you to show up in the world in alignment with your own values and ethics.
Creativity: I hope to challenge ideas of what we might think is possible in therapy. This may include introducing creative practices such as writing, inviting in other people and voices, and sometimes imagining up goals for our work together that are not to "fix" or "change."
